So, every day of marathon week has a special name. Yesterday was drive to Chicago day, today is
EXPO DAY, and tomorrow is
MARATHON DAY! Since I’m well on my way to socializing the marathon experience, I am sharing with all of you dedicated readers my photos from the expo. Now let me tell you — this was the most intense expo I’ve ever seen. It had discount runner clothes, food freebees, official marathon gear, pace group sign ups, t-shirt and bag pick-up, posters, and more. I signed myself up for the 4:15 pace group (being conservative so i can speed up during the second half of the race) and you can track me by clicking
here! My bib # is 39428. It is now t-15ish hours til start and I’m starting to think about my strategy now. My strategy is: not start out too fast, only walk through water stations when I get tired, and try and make or break 4 hours. Truthfully, I will be happy with any improvement over my last time which was 4:20:07.
Tonight’s dinner will be carbo-licious, as expected, and eaten at
Pizano in 1.5 hours. Bedtime will be 9pm, and wake-up call will be 5:30am. I’ve gotta be in my corral with my pace team by 7am and the race starts at 7:30am though I’ll probably cross the start at 8am. The weather is expected to be
warm, though I’ve been training in the summer heat so I should be ready (ish). There aren’t really any more details you would want to know, and I will have a lot more to say post race — including pictures! Thanks for all your support and wish me luck! :)
